The Giving Tree

On Saturday, the scouts from troop 71 helped with setting up the Giving Tree. Each year our chartered organization, St. Thomas the Apostle Church, sponsors a giving tree where parishioners take an ornament off the tree, purchase the item listed, and bring it to the church for donation. Local charities will then distribute the presents amongst their members. We helped set up tables for each charity so that each parishioner could drop of the presents for the correct charity. The scouts also helped sort presents that people had dropped off earlier. Near the end, they helped load each charity's vehicle with presents. Finally, the troop cleaned up and felt proud of what they had contributed to help the community.
